How much does a new patient check-up cost in Cardiff?

A new patient check-up at Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre costs £75. This covers a full dental examination with your dentist, an oral health and gum assessment, and any X-rays needed to give you an accurate picture of your dental health.

During your first visit, your dentist will talk you through what they find, discuss any treatment options in plain English, and give you a clear written plan and cost estimate before anything is booked. There is no obligation to proceed with further treatment on the day.

To book your new patient appointment, call us on 02920 229877 or use our online booking system.

Can I get a same-day emergency dental appointment in Cardiff?

Yes. Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre reserves a limited number of emergency appointments every day, and we aim to see you on the same day or within 24 hours. An emergency appointment costs £60, and covers a focused assessment to diagnose the problem and immediate treatment where possible to relieve pain and stabilise the issue.

Common dental emergencies we treat include severe toothache, broken or chipped teeth, lost fillings or crowns, facial swelling or infection, and knocked-out teeth. If you have uncontrolled bleeding, rapidly spreading swelling, or a high temperature alongside dental pain, call us immediately — these are time-critical.

For dental emergencies during practice hours, call 02920 229877. When we are closed, patients in Cardiff or the Vale of Glamorgan should contact CAV 24/7 on 0300 10 20 247; elsewhere in Wales, call NHS 111 Wales.

What is a dental membership plan and how much does it cost?

A dental membership plan is a fixed monthly payment that covers your routine dental care at the practice. Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre offers four Practice Plans, each including your examinations and hygiene visits with the dentist for the year, plus worldwide 24/7 emergency cover and 10% off private treatment prices.

The plans are designed to spread the cost of regular care and make private dentistry more predictable — see our Practice Plan page for current monthly prices and what’s included in each plan.

To join a plan, you need to attend an initial appointment at the practice so we can assess your current dental health. Call us on 02920 229877 to book your registration visit.

What is Guided Biofilm Therapy and do you offer it in Cardiff?

Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a modern hygiene treatment that uses warm water, fine powder and air polishing technology to remove plaque, stains and early tartar gently and precisely. Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre uses the EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy system for all hygiene appointments — it is one of the most advanced approaches to dental hygiene available in the UK.

GBT is kinder to your teeth, gums and any existing restorations than traditional scraping methods, and most patients find it noticeably more comfortable. Your hygiene appointment begins with an assessment of your gums, followed by a disclosing solution that highlights where plaque has built up, then gentle cleaning with the EMS GBT system, and finishes with personalised oral care advice.

Hygiene visits are included in our Practice Plans and can also be booked as standalone appointments. Call 02920 229877 to book your visit.

How does professional teeth whitening work and is it safe?

Professional teeth whitening is a safe, dentist-prescribed treatment that lightens the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. At Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre, we provide professional take-home whitening using custom-fitted trays designed specifically for your smile — a gradual, controlled approach that gives natural-looking results.

It is only safe when supervised by a qualified dentist. Because the whitening gel is prescribed for your mouth and applied in trays made from a digital scan of your teeth, the gel stays where it should, reducing the risk of gum irritation. Over-the-counter and salon-based whitening products cannot achieve the same results safely.

Your journey starts with a consultation to make sure whitening is right for you, followed by trays made to fit, and a short course of at-home treatment. To book a whitening consultation, call 02920 229877.

Do you offer Invisalign and clear aligners for adults in Cardiff?

Yes. Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre offers clear aligner treatment, including Invisalign®, for teenagers and adults who want a straighter smile without traditional metal braces. Clear aligners are custom-made, nearly invisible trays that gradually move your teeth into their ideal position — most patients achieve their goal smile in 6 to 12 months, depending on the complexity of the case.

Aligners are removable for eating, brushing and flossing, which means no dietary restrictions and much easier daily hygiene than fixed braces. We use 3D digital scanning to design your treatment plan and show you a preview of your final result before you begin.

There is no upper age limit for clear aligners — we treat many adults in their 40s, 50s and beyond. If your teeth and gums are healthy, you are a candidate. Book a consultation by calling 02920 229877.

How long do dental implants last and how much do they cost?

With proper care, dental implants are designed to last a lifetime. They are the most durable, long-term solution for replacing missing teeth — the titanium post fuses with your jawbone over a few months (a process called osseointegration) and becomes a permanent foundation for a custom-made crown, bridge or denture.

Implant costs vary depending on the number of teeth being replaced and whether any preparatory work (such as bone grafting) is needed. We provide a written estimate after your consultation, with no obligation to proceed. Although implants have a higher upfront cost than bridges or dentures, they do not need replacing every few years and they protect the jawbone from the gradual bone loss that follows tooth loss — which makes them the most cost-effective long-term option for many patients.

Your implant journey includes a comprehensive consultation with digital imaging, gentle placement of the titanium post under local anaesthetic (with sedation options for nervous patients), a healing period, and fitting of your final crown. Book a consultation on 02920 229877.

I am a nervous patient — how do you support anxious dental patients?

Around one in three UK adults feels anxious about visiting the dentist, so if that is you, you are in good company and we will look after you. Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre supports nervous patients with longer appointment slots, a calm chat with your dentist before anything happens in the chair, a clear explanation of every step, and sedation options where needed for longer or more involved treatments.

If you have not been to a dentist in years, please do not let that put you off coming in — our team will never judge you. Many new patients arrive worried about the state of their teeth and leave with a clear, manageable plan and, more importantly, the confidence that they are now looked after.

If walking in still feels like too big a step, our Send Us a Selfie service lets you send a photo of your smile and receive an initial response from the team before you commit to an appointment. To talk to us first, call 02920 229877 or pop in to 107 Clare Road, Cardiff, CF11 6QQ.

Do you accept NHS patients at Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre?

Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre is a private dental practice. We do not currently accept new NHS patients directly — NHS registration in Wales is managed through the NHS Dental Access Portal waiting list. We do, however, welcome new private patients and offer Practice Membership Plans that make routine dental care predictable and affordable.

Our Practice Plans are designed for patients who want the reassurance of a registered dentist at a set monthly cost. All plans include worldwide 24/7 emergency cover and 10% off our private treatment prices — see our Practice Plan page for current monthly prices and what’s included in each plan.

You can join by calling us on 02920 229877 or visiting the practice at 107 Clare Road, Cardiff, CF11 6QQ.
