Emergency Appointments

Urgent dental care, delivered calmly

At Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre, we understand dental pain and injuries don’t wait for a convenient moment. Our emergency appointments are designed to give you fast relief — and reassurance — when you need it most. We prioritise urgent cases, offer late-evening slots where possible, and focus on easing pain and stabilising the issue during your first visit.

What is a dental emergency appointment?

A dental emergency appointment is for pain, injury, or sudden oral health problems that can’t wait for a routine visit. We prioritise these cases, diagnose quickly, and treat you during the same appointment wherever possible — with late-evening slots available for when problems don’t happen during the working day.

Why choose an emergency dental appointment?

Prompt treatment relieves pain and helps prevent minor issues becoming bigger problems. Common emergencies we handle:

  • Severe toothache or pain — We identify the cause and relieve the pain during your first visit wherever possible.

  • Broken, chipped, or knocked-out teeth — Rapid repair, protection, or splinting to stabilise the tooth and save what can be saved.

  • Lost fillings, crowns, or restorations — Replacement or re-fitting to protect the exposed tooth until a permanent repair is made.

  • Swelling or infection — Prompt assessment, antibiotics if needed, and drainage or root treatment to resolve the underlying cause.

Your journey to relief

Our approach to every urgent case:

  • 1

Contact the practice — Call as soon as you can. We arrange same-day or late-evening appointments where possible — mention that you’re in pain or have had an injury so we can prioritise you.

  • 2

Emergency assessment — We examine the affected area, take X-rays if needed, and explain what’s happening in plain English — no jargon, no surprises.

  • 3

Immediate treatment — Where possible we treat during the same visit — relieving pain, repairing damage, or protecting the tooth. You leave with the immediate issue addressed.

  • 4

Follow-up care — If further treatment is needed, we’ll talk you through the options and arrange the next steps at your pace.

Frequently asked questions about Emergency Appointments

Can I get a same-day emergency appointment?

Yes. If you’re in pain or have had a dental injury, call us as soon as possible. We prioritise emergency patients and aim to see you the same day, including late-evening appointments where available.

What counts as a dental emergency?

Severe toothache, broken or knocked-out teeth, facial swelling, lost fillings or crowns, and dental trauma are all emergencies that benefit from urgent care. If you’re unsure, give us a call — our team will help you decide.

Do you offer late-evening emergency appointments?

Yes. We keep late-evening slots available because dental problems don’t always happen during the working day. Mention you need an urgent appointment when you call and we’ll find the earliest available time.

What should I do if I’ve knocked out a tooth?

Handle the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse gently with milk or saliva if it’s dirty, and try to reinsert it into the socket. If that’s not possible, keep it in milk and call us immediately. Time is critical — the sooner you’re seen, the better the chance of saving the tooth.
