Dentures

Custom-made smiles, comfortable to wear

Missing teeth can change more than your smile — they can affect how you eat, how you speak, and how confident you feel. At Cardiff Dental and Aesthetics Centre, dentures are custom-crafted to fit comfortably and look as natural as possible, restoring the shape of your smile and the ease of everyday life.

What are dentures?

Dentures are custom-made removable appliances designed to replace missing teeth and restore the appearance and function of your smile. They can replace several missing teeth (partial dentures) or all teeth in the upper or lower jaw (full dentures). Modern dentures support the lips and facial structure while allowing you to chew and speak more comfortably.

Why choose dentures?

Dentures are a reliable, cost-effective way to replace missing teeth and improve your quality of life.

  • A restored smile — Custom-shaded and shaped to look as natural as possible — people rarely notice the difference.

  • Confident eating and speaking — A snug, stable fit that lets you enjoy your favourite foods and talk freely without worry.

  • Facial support — Dentures support the lips and cheeks, preventing the sunken look that can follow tooth loss.

  • A cost-effective option — A reliable, proven way to replace teeth — either as a standalone solution or alongside implants where helpful.

Your journey to a complete smile

Every denture is custom-made to you. Here’s what to expect:

  • 1

Consultation and assessment — We look at your oral health, discuss what you’d like to achieve, and determine the most suitable type of denture for you.

  • 2

Impressions and measurements — Precise impressions or digital scans are taken so your dentures can be custom-made to fit your mouth comfortably and securely.

  • 3

Try-in appointment — You’ll have a try-in where we check the fit, shape, and appearance together — adjustments happen here, before the final dentures are made.

  • 4

Fitting your dentures — Once ready, your dentures are carefully fitted and adjusted to ensure comfort and a natural appearance.

  • 5

Ongoing support — We’ll talk you through how to care for your dentures and arrange follow-up visits so they continue to feel right.

Frequently asked questions about Dentures

How long do dentures last?

With good care, dentures typically last 5–10 years before needing adjustment or replacement. Your mouth changes naturally over time, so periodic relines or new dentures may be recommended to maintain the best fit.

Are dentures comfortable to wear?

Modern dentures are designed to fit snugly and comfortably. There’s usually a short adjustment period as your mouth adapts, but most patients find them comfortable for everyday wear after a few weeks.

Can I sleep with my dentures in?

We generally recommend removing dentures overnight to give your gums and tissues time to rest. Soaking them in water or a denture-cleaning solution keeps them fresh and in shape.

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?

Most people adjust within a few weeks. Speaking and eating may feel different at first — practising at home with softer foods and reading aloud helps speed up the adjustment.
